My absence..

As some of you may have noticed I have been very absent from my blog the past couple of weeks. In between flying I have been on a hen weekend and at a wedding.

Thought I would share with you my wedding outfit as this is something I was quite worried about to begin with, what with length and the right colour. I also hadn't been to a wedding in around 14 years which means last time I was at a wedding I was the little girl running around playing superman and screaming. I'd like to think I was a little more sophisticated at this one.

I have now decided I LOVE weddings. More people should get married. My best friend got engaged a few weeks back so I get to be invovled in the wedding preparations which I actually can't wait for.

I found my dress around a month before the wedding in French Connection (in the sale, I won't tell if you won't!!).

I went without a hat/fascinator, mainly because I couldn't find one the right colour online and I didn't have enough time to go and find one.

I will definitely be blogging more now all the wedding excitement has gone and I have lots of time on my hands.

I'm a little bit addicted to.... American TV

In between flights and with my messed up body clock, my favourite way to wind down is with any sort of American tv.

This addiction started many years ago with One Tree Hill, The OC and my favourite of all time - Charmed. Now my tastes have grown a little more I love the likes of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. Now this may sounds like I am just rambling about lots of girly tv but I do have a point - I promise.

Now as much as I love these types of programmes I am also IN LOVE with the wardrobes.

Starting with Gossip Girl - All the glitz and glamour and set in The Upper East Side

Moving onto The Carrie Diaries - Before there was SATC when Carrie was just 16, Okay this is set in the 80's but everything is just FABULOUS!

Hart of Dixie - It's Summer (Rachel Bilson) all grown up and looking better than ever

Other programmes include: The Lying Games, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle

If anyone has any recommendations, I'm always on the look out for new programmes/clothes to lust after??

Secret Product for Spots

Firstly, I just need to point out HOW COLD IS IT? Winter is definitley upon us. I am sat writing this in a massive jumper and socks trying to persuade my mum we need the heating on (she has a not till October rule).

Being on a plane for long periods of time can make you break out pretty bad, so for me flying up to around 32 hours a week is pretty awful on my skin.

Best advice is to drink plenty, around 1/2 litre per 2 hours flying as flying is very dehydrating on the skin.

My skin falls under the normal/oily skin category and after flying for long periods at a time I often wake up with quite a few spots. Recently I was told to try sudocrem (YES, the stuff you put on babies bums). And it really is the best thing since sliced bread.
I put a thick layer on of a night time (WARNING - it's a scary look, think ghost meets goth) and then wash off any remains in the morning and moisturise in the morning to make up for the dryness that it causes.

I'm guessing if you have dry skin this probably isn't the best product for you but people with oily skin like myself, it is perfect. I wish I had found this in my teenage years!!!

Any weird but wonderful beauty recommendations?

Battle Of The Primer

I've only been using primer for about 8 months. Before this I'd never really heard much about them, but lately Primers are EVERYWHERE.

Being Cabin Crew I need my make up to stay on as long as possible and when I first heard about primers I had to give them a go.

My battle of the primer is Benefit The POREfessional & Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

(From left Smashbox Photo Finish RRP £25, Benefit POREfessional RRP £24.50)

LEFT: Smashbox              RIGHT: Benefit

First up is Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

I have to say I'm a little dissappointed. It claims to create a perfect canvas for foundation and increase longevity. Create a perfect canvas it does, my foundation slides on so much smoother and creates a nice finish. BUT longevity it is not, around the 8 hour mark, same as without the primer I need to touch/redo.
It also claims to help reduce the sight of pores, I have very open pores on my nose and find this primer doesn't help hide these as much as I would expect. I really wanted to LOVE this primer but I just didn't.

Second is Benefit POREfessional. As a whole I find Benefit products  have very pretty packaging and an average product and therefore overpriced.
I spoke to the counter lady and she suggested this primer as I was looking for something to help my make up stay put but also reduce the pores on my nose.
Unlike the Smashbox, Benefit POREfessional has lived up to its name and reduces the sight of pores comepletely on my nose, although these don't dissappear for the whole day when they do begin to appear they are still dramatically reduced.
Keeping my make up stay put I wouldn't say it's 100% but does help it with the 'freshly put on' look for a good 8 hours+. Again my make up slides on nicely after apply this as a base, but this can also be used over make up .

My winner: Benefit POREfessional by far.

Any other primers I should try?

Hair essentials

My 'can't live without' hair care products.

(Clockwise from bottom, Tangle Teezer £10.99, Elnett Hairspray £6.60, Batiste dry shampoo Medium & brunette and Tropical £3.99-4.99, Ojon Glossing Mist around £20)

I'm quite a fickle person and tend to see pretty packaging and think that must be the new best thing but these are the things that I buy on a regular basis

Tangle Teezer - I genuinely do NOT know how I lived without one of these. I lost my first one and survived one hair wash before I ran back to Boots and brought another. I do have quite knotty hair but any girl with long hair neeeeeeeds one of these in their lives, it can tackle the most awful of knots. I can't describe how it works any different from a normal hair brush but I will never use a normal hairbrush again. Possibly Dragon Den's best ever invention!!! (Exaggeration me?)

Elnett Hairspray - I love the smell of this hairspray and after trialling pretyy much the whole of Boots this is the only hairspray that I buy time and time again.

Batiste Dry Shampoo - So I may have only tried a handful of dry shampoo's including Percy and Reed and Lee Stafford but for the price of Batiste and the amount I use dry shampoo (I HATE washing my hair, this makes me sound dirty but twice a week is a chore!) I can not fault it. I like to use the tropical one on the bad areas as it makes it smell amazing, then a coat of the brunette one over the top to avoid the grey haired look.

Ojon Glossing Mist - After blow drying a small amount of this spray all over my hair makes it look and smell amazing. This product is only good on 'just washed' hair and makes a few days old hair look slightly greasy. To say I can't live without it is a slight exaggeration but my hair really notices the difference if I dont use it.

Any products you can't live without that I should try??

Victoria Secrets...

So for my first ever blog post I decided to post about Victoria Secrets beauty products.

Admittedly, Amber romance Shimmer lotion and Shimmer lotion were a gift. They smell amazing! Teamed together; the lotion on after a shower and fragrance mist on clothes and skin there is no need to wear perfume. The subtle glitter in it makes it PERFECT for a night out.
I get so many compliments when wearing it - I've even brought it for a friend for her birthday as she liked it so much.

So I then went back to Victoria Secret to indulge in some more.

They are between £9-£11 each or 6 for £30. It was crazy not to go for all 6. I have put some away as Christmas Presents (if I can keep them that long without stealing them).

The Love Spell is very sweet and reminds me of the perfumes I used to have as a teenager. As sickly as it sounds I love it just as much. I wouldn't use this one instead of a perfume like the Amber Romance but putting it on before bed makes my whole room smell of it in the morning.

Anyone else tried any of Victoria Secrets beauty prodcuts?
